Grants are given to charities based in or carrying out work in the York area (20 mile radius). National charities carrying out projects in the York area will be considered, for example, a charity seeking funding for a care home or similar facility in the York area. In respect of churches etc, support will not normally be given to building repairs, unless the application demonstrates clearly that proposed repairs are for community use, youth groups, the elderly etc. Upgrades to improve facilities for disabled access to a building or increased community use will be considered.

All applications will usually be determined within six weeks unless further information relating to the application is needed. Decisions will be advised as soon as possible after the meeting.

PLEASE NOTE:

• The Trust does not enter into continuing programmes of commitment to support individual charities.
• The Trust is often keen to give initial support to charities in respect of new projects to provide initial assistance to the projects.
• The Trust supports projects that provide benefit to the work of charities helping individuals, but also charities or organisations that provide benefit to local communities.

Grants to individuals are given via a social grant recommended via third party agencies.
